Before I start my recommendations, I'd like to add recommend The Collector by John Fowles. I haven't finished reading this novel yet but the book is set during the fall season and for great reason as the eerie read perfectly captures the tone of the fall season.

1) Uprooted, by Naomi Novik

I have chosen this novel as my number one choice as I believe that this fantastical read is perfect for autumn with the magical setting of the forest and natural imagery. This Russia influenced novel portrays the coldness of the season.

2) Salt To The Sea, By Ruta Sepetys

I have added a historical fiction novel to this list as the novel is perfect to read on a rainy day. This WW2 novel highlights the loneliness and the cruelty that many citizens where subjected to.

3)The Handmaids Tale, By Marggret Atwood

I read this novel back in July and to be honest you can read this book during any time of the year. However, I am in a massive craze to buy and read modern classics at the moment (probably due to my A level- swear I mention it in every post) but the way Atwood uses words is so not magical but inspiring I feel this novel gives the impression of ing a fall read with the dark topics and the societal opinions.

4) Shock of the Fall, By Nathan Filer

Having Fall in the title is a bit of a no brainer when it comes to why I have chosen to recommend this novel. However, the message that it sends is a powerful one and is a should read during this season.

5) The Bone Season, By Samantha Shannon

I found it a little weird that I haven't recommended more fantasy novels this season but to be honest I haven't been in the mood for them. I have recommended this novel, and don't judge me for this, but one of the characters I imagine being acted out by Benedict Cumberbatch. The feel of this novel is perfect for this season with the alien species and the oppressive leaders. This book does have its faults and they shouldn't be over looked but this is an interesting novl if you take it with a pinch of salt.
